Denture Care and Maintenance Instructions

Your new dentures may feel unusual at first. You might notice changes in your speech or feel as though your mouth is too full. These sensations are common during the adjustment period and will typically resolve as your body becomes accustomed to wearing your dentures. The length of this adjustment period varies from patient to patient.

To maintain the health of your dentures and oral hygiene:

  • Clean your dentures after each meal using a soft brush with cleaning paste or soapy water. Remove your dentures for at least 6 hours daily to allow your gums to rest—this is most effective when you sleep. During this time, store your dentures in a small container of water to prevent them from drying out. At least once a week, clean your dentures with a specialized cleaning solution.
  • It is important to have your dentures checked annually to monitor changes in your mouth and for necessary adjustments or routine maintenance. If you experience any issues with your dentures, contact our office as soon as possible to schedule an appointment.
